Future of ITIL, revisited

For a few weeks, I've been blogging and talking about Service Management and ITIL in an more agile world.

The initial article was Driving in the fast lane with ITIL, followed by Why are changes to IT so slow? and Changes to IT benefits business? We also recorded a video on Thoughts on the future of ITIL where Greger Wikstrand interviewed me.

I still believe that we should use ITIL as a baseline for service management, but we need to improve in the speed we apply changes in IT, without a huge increase in risk and cost.

The biggest challenge is to be able to make small changes to IT, without impacting other parts on a daily basis. This is what I think is the biggest opportunity for Enterprise Architects the coming years, to help transforming to a more flexible IT-environment than today, thus making Service Management faster.
