EA case study - Motivation and business opportunity
The main reason for me to be involved in film production is that I like storytelling and images.
Digital disruption
From a business standpoint, it is disrupted from digital in two different ways since several years back
Technology for creating films is getting much cheaper and more consumer accessible. It’s today possible to shoot a full length feature with a smartphone.
Distribution of films today have more channels and give opportunities for smaller films. You can bypass the traditional distributors to publish your film.
But ways of working in film production is more or less the same as in the old days, making in costly and inefficient.
In order to be successful in the new business conditions, you need to be able to produce quality content for a lower cost and with new revenue models.
We are a number of persons who have both sector experiences and experiences from other sectors. We think it’s possible to make “better and better stories, together”, thus more profitable than today.
Financial KPI’s
The market for Film, TV and video production & distribution in Sweden is worth more than 1 billion Euros per year.
There are a handful of larger companies and the rest of the businesses are run by sole owners. The profit for the latter is low.
The average production cost for a feature film for cinema in Sweden is 3 million Euros and involves roghly 50 persons.
As more an more money are invested in content creation, we think there is a business opportunity for a new company in the Nordics, with a vision to “Constantly improving creativity”
Value of Enterprise architecture
Then a number of questions arise about the value of EA for a startup and/or a small company.
Can we deliver a feature film each time within time, budget and quality without defined processes?
Can we run with profit without digitalization?
Can we be profitable in the Nordics only making feature films?
Is the one turn-key software solution that gives all support for the business?
Do we have unlimited time and resources?
Do we need a full EA function to run this business?
My answer to all these questions are no.
See you at the red carpet
