As part on a large international consultancy firm, we more often get the question, how to assist our clients with innovation. The question I have back when they ask is what do you mean with innovation?

In the video Security, Innovation and Talent - Prelude to Season 3 of Architecture Corner, I talked about three types of innovation; Improving existing products, Develop new type of products and Improve ways of working.

In addition to these three aspects of innovation, we also have innovation in business models.

But what do I mean with these different categories of innovation? Can they be combined together? Can it be applied to all organisations?

I will give three examples in music, photography and telephony where I try to show how to apply the different categories of innovation.
