Greger Wikstrand wrote a blog about automation of his hen house, and we recorded a video with his requirements a few days later.

What we didn't discuss at his home were the security requirements for his hen house and they have a significant impact on the solution. In a tweet, he added electrical safety, cyber security and animal welfare to the list of requirements.

The simpler IoT solutions for home, are rather easy to hijack from the outside. The result of increasing the temperature too much in the hen house is the the hens may die. As such, we must be sure that an intruder wouldn't interfere with the control system from far away, i.e. animal welfare.
